The Dominican Republic continues to be ahead of the curve for getting its population vaccinated against COVID-19. The latest data shows the Caribbean country beating a long list of Central and South American countries.
As of the last day of May, nearly 30% of the entire population of the Dominican Republic had received at least one dose of the vaccine. That is considerably larger than South American countries like Brazil (21.21%), Argentina (20.21%), and Colombia (12.88%) who all fall well below, respectively. South America is averaging under 20%. Mexico (16.78%) is also getting vaccines out to its residents at a much slower rate, according to the Our World Data website.
ERC is committed to the health and safety of its employees and to the fight against COVID-19. Currently, nearly 90% of the frontline workforce has returned to work in both operating sites in the DR. All safety measures are in place.
ERC encouraged employees in San Isidro to get vaccinated when Industrial Park held its vaccine drive in May at the polyclinic. For Santo Domingo employees, ERC has partnered with the Dominican government to offer vaccines to employees later this month.
The Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines are currently being offered to DR residents. U.S. citizens are currently allowed to travel to the Dominican Republic and negative PCR tests are required for certain countries.
“Health and safety continue to be of utmost importance for our employees. We are doing everything we can to make sure they have access and are educated about the COVID-19 vaccine,” said Jose Nelton Gonzalez, Executive Vice President of ERC.
For the third year in a row, ERC one of the top international BPO providers of customer experience solutions received the certification by the Dominican Republic government for health and safety in the workplace amid a global pandemic.
ERC is the first global contact center in the Dominican Republic that has attained the DR Ministry of Labor’s Certification for compliance with Regulation 522-06 on Health, Hygiene, and Safety at Work. This certification sets the standard for safety control measures and adequate health protocols in workspaces.
