ERC’s volunteers show up to clean two of Jacksonville’s oldest neighborhoods.
ERC, one of the top international BPO providers of customer experience solutions, teamed up with News4Jax and Beaches Go Green to clean up two of Jacksonville’s oldest neighborhoods on the banks of the St. Johns River.
The community cleanup, which started at 9 a.m. at the Winston YMCA, saw hundreds of pounds of trash removed from the target area. The call to action invited all individuals who care about keeping Jacksonville beautiful to help with the effort. Under the banner of an azure sky, hundreds answered the call. Buckets, bags, and gloves were provided to the volunteers to arm them for the daunting task at hand. In addition, prizes were awarded for the strangest object found and the most cigarette butts collected. At the end of the event, all the trash was sorted and weighed.
At ERC, we believe that, as citizens of the world, it is our inherent responsibility to protect our environment, its resources and to build stronger and cleaner communities. That is why ERC partners with Beaches Go Green, among other charities and not-for-profit organizations, several times a year through its ERC Cares program. No task is too challenging for our volunteers. Cleaning communities, beaches, parks, and other public spaces are just a few of the events ERC Cares champions at least once per quarter.
“I love helping with Beaches Go Green because it makes the world a prettier place,” said Jean-Marie Santiago, Trainer, shortly after the event. “It also helps me be more conscious of how I get rid of my own trash. I am a smoker, and since helping out with Beaches Go Green a couple of years ago, I no longer smoke when an ashtray isn’t available, or I am not sure how to dispose of my butts properly! So seeing all those cigarette butts collected really hit home!” She added fervently.
“I like to help with Beaches Go Green because the events bring not only the community but also ERC, together, to make the environment a better place for us all. I love attending these events because it gives me a chance to give back to the community and make a difference,” said Victoria Meade, Director of Operations.
ERC established the ERC Cares program in 2016 to connect its workforce to volunteer opportunities just like this one.
