ERC’S VOLUNTEERS HELP CLEAN UP POPULAR GEORGIA STATE PARK.
WAYCROSS, Georgia, May 16, 2022 – For many Georgians, it just doesn’t get any better than enjoying the great outdoors at the Laura S. Walker State Park. This popular destination, famous for the lush vegetation surrounding the Okenfenokee Swamp, its fascinating wildlife, and majestic trails, is visited by thousands of nature enthusiasts. ERC, one of the top international BPO providers of customer experience solutions, partnered with Friends of Laura S. Walker State Park, a Waycross-based non-profit organization, for a clean-up event at the park.
ERC joined forces with the Friends for the second year to give the beloved family destination some much-needed TLC. The soaring pines and serene lake at Laura S. Walker State Park form a breathtaking backdrop for the many families who visit this outdoor sanctuary each year, but after the long winter months, the park was full of litter. ERC’s volunteers cleared trash from the many trails while enjoying the enchanting vistas.
ERC community service cleaning efforts are organized under the ERC Cares program. ERC’s workforce helps clean beaches, parks, and waterways several times throughout the year. Since its inception in 2016, the ERC Cares program has provided relief and support to many local charities and community events.
It wasn’t “all work and no play” at this clean-up event despite the arduous work! Once the park was clean, volunteers had a barbeque and relaxed under the verdant foliage.
“Laura Walker is a place where my daughter and I visit all the time,” said Christian Miles, Senior Director of Recovery Operations at ERC. “It is one of her most loved locations in Waycross, so it was my pleasure to give to a place that has given so many memories to our family. I look forward to being able to visit in the future and contribute more to keeping our park in top shape for the many visitors who travel through the area.”
ERC and the Friends organized their first joint clean-up event for Your State Parks Day in September 2021, and ERC continues its commitment to protecting the park with this second event. State Parks serve as critical wildlife reserves, but they also enrich the lives of the families and individuals who visit them.
