ERC races to support the fight against breast cancer.
Some run to honor loved ones, others in celebration of survivorship, but each runner at The Players Donna 5K had one common and shared goal – to cross the finish line and show support in the fight against breast cancer. ERC, one of the top international BPO providers of customer experience solutions, has participated in various Donna Foundation fundraisers for several years through its ERC Cares community outreach program.
This race saw a return to a live, in-person event format. Countless Floridians came together to pay tribute to the fallen, those who continue to fight each day, and the survivors who have overcome impossible odds through personal courage and perseverance. These survivors are healthy today due to the tireless effort of not-for-profit organizations like the Donna Foundation. Founded in 2003 by three-time breast cancer survivor Donna Deegan, the Donna Foundation has been organizing their signature 26.2 With DONNA, The National Marathon to Finish Breast Cancer since 2008, attracting thousands of runners and supporters from all 50 states and more than 20 countries. In addition, the Donna Foundation provides financial assistance and support to families living with breast cancer and funds groundbreaking breast cancer research.
“My son and I had a great time doing the Donna 5K run. The scenery was beautiful, as was the cause! My family has been no stranger to cancer, and we ran in honor of my niece, Aaliyah Mitchell, who we lost far too soon to cancer. Any opportunity we have to get out and show support, we always take in honor of her memory. ERC was there for my family and me when we were going through hard times, and we will always be appreciative! It’s the least we could do to show our support to my niece, the company, and this great cause. I am looking forward to doing many more in the future,” said Thomas Williams, ERC Operations Manager.
“What made participating in the Donna 5K run meaningful to me was the cause of the run. In the US, 1 in 8 women are diagnosed with breast cancer yearly, and many of them do not have the financial means to afford proper care. My mother is a breast cancer survivor, and I am a witness of how pricey the treatment can be,” said Jonathan Billings, ERC Team Supervisor, when asked to comment on the importance of this event.
ERC established the ERC Cares program in 2016 to connect its employees to volunteer opportunities and raise awareness of social causes. It’s important to be involved, and through the ERC Cares program, ERC’s employees can do good for the community during various events hosted throughout the year.
