THOUSANDS OF RETAIL CHANGEMAKERS REUNITED IN LAS VEGAS TO “CREATE THE FUTURE OF RETAIL".
JACKSONVILLE, Florida, April 12, 2022 – ERC recently attended the 2022 Shoptalk Convention at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas. The three-day event hosted by Hyve, brought together retail giants and industry changemakers to discuss and debate the future of retail. With over 10,000 attendees and almost 500 sponsors and exhibitors, the event was the perfect platform for retail professionals and industry leaders to gain insight into consumer trends and future innovations. These are some of the highlights from the speakers:
- The Metaverse is here and it is real. Many retailers continue to consider the best approaches on how to utilize it for their customers. Crowdsourcing is said to be key in the Metaverse, which opens up a wider playing field, and creates new challenges for retailers.
- Supply chain challenges include port congestion, labor shortages, and truck delivery delays still are problematic for consumer product companies. These challenges have propelled the industry to adopt more technology and create workarounds for a more agile flow from point A to point B. Automation takes care of the low valued, repetitive tasks.
- The longest holiday season on record started in June 2021. 64% of US shoppers were window shopping at stores but ultimately made purchases using online search for 2021.
- Preference for “Super Apps,” (mobile or web applications that can provide multiple services across various consumer use cases) is rapidly expanding. One example of this is with Uber, where you can now get rides, food, and groceries.
